A Weekend in Syracuse

 Best friends!
This is my new friend, Luke. Luke wanted to pose for a picture.
 Hogwarts is alive and well.

Syracuse: a place for truly excellent waffles and black squirrels. This weekend I went to Syracuse with my friend Nelly to visit our friend Joelle at school. After walking around Syracuse University's campus, I think we all have a bit of school envy. It's the kind of campus that makes you feel smart and motivated to learn just because the architecture is so cool. The frat houses are something straight out of a movie and make me want to go back to college. We ate at Funk 'n Waffles, which we all highly recommend, followed by a trip to Yogurt Land and Insomnia Cookies. We walked off our feast at Destiny USA (a four story mall in Cuse) and rounded out our evening with a viewing of The Fault In Our Stars.

Weekend Files

These are just a few photos from my weekend. For Valentine's day, Zach and I made epic baked gnocchi'n'cheese (recipe coming soon!) for dinner. Then we got a piece of cheese cake from the Cheesecake Factory and snuck it into the movies where we saw The Book Thief. Incredible movie, by the way. On Saturday we drove down to Lake Chautauqua for their winter festival. There wasn't anything particularly exciting going on, but it was worth it just to see the ice castle and to walk across the frozen lake. The last picture I took this morning. We're dog sitting for my neighbors so Finn has a friend for the week. He likes to bite Rock's tail. It's cute :) How was your Valentine's weekend?

The Weekend Files

lobster and shrimp bisque with croutons, fabulous
bacon wrapped stuffed hot pepper with a roasted tomato sauce, to die for
stuffed hot pepper pizza, not impressive
stuffed mushrooms in a lobster cream sauce, the sauce was the best part
cute mini lemon cupcake, zach liked it more than me

On Saturday, Zach and I went to the Taste of East Aurora. We tried some really great food including lobster nachos which we scarfed down before I remembered I wanted to take a picture AND this bacon wrapped awesomeness which is pictured above! SO good! After, Zach started teaching me how to long board. It was a gorgeous day!

On Sunday, I went downtown to see a visiting ship launch with my parents. We took lots of pictures, saw some beautiful flowers, and bought roast beef sandwiches from a food truck. Then last night, I played around with some dye for an upcoming DIY post and then went for a walk with my momma in the rain. Pretty solid weekend.
