Sunday

Winter Solstice

As the shortest day of the year turns into the longest night, I dress in neutral grays to match my surroundings, but with pops of color; stripes and stars hat, green gloves, blue cons. I've got some ideas of where I want my blog to go in the new year. I'll share those thoughts with you soon, but for now I hope you are enjoying this holiday season with friends and family.
Outfit Details:: Hat (Old Navy), Coat (Thrifted/DIY), Jeans (F21), Sneakers (Converse)

Monday

Cozy Vibes

OUTFIT DETAILS:: Cardigan, DIY // Shirt, She Inside // Socks, Target // Boots, Minnetonka
 I wore this yesterday.
It was gray and moody outside.
I read an entire book whilst snuggled under the covers in my bed
and cozied up with an enormous mug of tea.
It was perfection.

Sunday

Three Ways To Wear: An Oversized Dress Shirt

I thought I'd mix up my outfit posts a bit and try something new. I've always been into menswear. Not menswear inspired pieces. Just straight up dude stuff. I'm that girl who would wear ties and suspenders. And not in an ironic way, but in an I-actually-like-how-this-looks way. This was not always popular with people, particularly some of my guy friends (I'm looking at you Mr. Roe), but the fun thing about fashion, for females especially, is that we can get away with wearing just about anything so why not experiment! I know that the "boyfriend" style is still popular right now so here are three ways to wear an over sized men's dress shirt. I thrifted an extra large shirt from Amvets for a few dollars, but you could also try looking through your man's closet/dad's closet/grandpa's closet etc..
Look 1: Men's shirt tucked into bold statement pants (Old Navy). While the pants are plenty interesting, I always need at least a little color in my life. Enter: my favorite red converse.
Look 2: Tied at the waist and paired with rolled up khakis (Old Navy, altered) and heeled ankle boots (Kohls). This neutral look screams Fall to me!
Look 3: Ahhh leggings. How I love thee. If you were around the blog at all last year you already know my devotion to leggings. Belted and paired with some cute ankle boots, maybe even add some cute, colorful socks when it gets colder, this will definitely be a staple look for me in the coming months.

Brotherly Love Suited Up

I love my brothers. We are hardly ever all home at the same time anymore so I'm extremely grateful for those family occasions, like weddings and holidays, that bring us all back together again. You might have noticed that we're not camera shy. When we're together we like to take as many ridiculous photos together as possible. We have quite a fun collection developing.

Back to School Video Lookbook

Okay. So, I made a video. I'm going to be honest, it's pretty rough. The camera quality is not the best and I didn't help my cause by shooting in direct sunlight at noon. No sir. I look a bit ghosty. It is slightly less blurry if you keep the screen small. I debated even sharing this at all. I debated refilming the whole thing and trying again. But, I put a lot of time and effort into this video and I decided it's as good a starting point as any. I've been contemplating adding videos into the post mix for months. Having finally gotten around to doing this first one, I know I have a lot to learn, but I'm excited to experiment with this new (to me) medium. If I get serious about it, maybe I'll invest in an actual video camera. Baby steps. Below are some photos and stills from the video.

Mix & Match

OUTFIT DETAILS:: Shirt, Thrifted & Altered // Shorts, Urban Outfitters // Shoes, Target
I've been having a lot of fun mixing patterns lately. I've never been one to shy away from the bold and this is a simple way of pushing boundaries a bit. I have a puppy play date this afternoon and then a short shift at work tonight. I hope you all have an expressive weekend!

Monday

Gunn & Swain

Summertime is the best time. Sunshine days and lightning bug nights. It just doesn't get much better than that. This year has been a bit of a curve ball, but I'm feeling incredibly grateful for the people in my life and the connections I've made and that is making this summer that much sweeter. On another note, I recently impulse bought this blanket from Gunn & Swain. I couldn't resist the colors! It's the perfect blanket for picnics and cloud watching.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Top, H&M // Shorts, DIY // Boots, Vintage via Nifty Thrifty // Hat, Thrifted // Blanket, Gunn & Swain

Thursday

Starstruck

I wore this to see Vance Joy in concert the other day. He was so good! There was this one particular moment during his last song that was really special. He stopped singing and the entire crowd sang his chorus back to him and his smile was priceless. It was a good moment. I'm glad I got to be a part of it.

OUTFIT DETAILS:: tee, Forever 21// shorts, Bon-ton (old)// boots, vintage thrifted
