Christmas DIY Gift Guide

So you want to DIY all of your own Christmas gifts, right? You DIY all year, but maybe you're lacking in the idea department? And you want to make stuff that you're loved ones will actually, well, love? Look no further. Here is your Holiday Guide to DIY. First up: some really rad glitter slip-ons, inspired by Anthropologie, without the Anthro price tag. Glitter is trending (as it should be) so why not use the holidays as an excuse to break out the glitter and bedazzle some shoes? Fabric (Joann Fabric $7.99/yd), Emroidery Floss (Joann Fabric $.74)

Second: who doesn't want a handmade quilt in their life? A bold floral fabric makes this quilt pop, perfect for chasing away the winter blues. Use a bright thread or embroidery floss to stitch haphazard lines. Quilts can seem daunting, but by using one fabric for the front and one for the back, it minimizes the sewing involved and creates a rustic, charming quilt.

Third: how about a gift for the coffee, tea, and hot cococa drinkers in your life? These simple watercolor mugs can be made with dollar store mugs and whatever nail polish you have lying around. I feel like I haven't been generating really great content lately and there are a few reasons for that. 

1. I started a full time job and it is too dark to take decent photos when I get out of work. 

Also, not super inspired to do anything after working for 8 hours. 

So, I need to adjust to this new schedule. I'm going to try to get

more posts photographed and written on the weekend so my blog doesn't look so lonely.

2. The snow storm from hell hit this past week, so much of my "free time" has been

devoted to reclaiming cars and driveways from Mother Nature's wrath.

Pinterest is really a beautiful thing. I can't tell you how many of my ideas have been

sparked by awesome things I saw on Pinterest. Such a great tool. Today I thought I'd share some

cool work spaces. I've been working on a table for a work/sewing space in my room

and these photos inspire me.

This week I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving (obviously) and getting mail again. I'm expecting some exciting packages :) Happy Monday to you!

White Washed

For someone who is pretty driven by bright and bold colors (my room is lime green and blue with a rainbow of accents) I've been really drawn to white washed spaces lately. I love how clean the white looks, plus it allows for limitless design options and makes any plant life pop. I like the idea of doing white rooms with bold, unexpected accents, like brightly colored furniture or a crazy patterned rug.

Dreamscape

Is anyone else obsessed with looking at other people's houses? There are so many cool spaces! I figure I probably won't have my own house until I'm on my death bed, what with my student debt and all, but I love looking at rooms with lots of windows, unique features, interesting angles... I'd love to live in one of those converted industrial spaces someday. A girl can dream, right?

Inspire Me

As someone who regularly chooses to sit/work on the floor, giant floor pillows made from pretty fabric are really appealing. I also really like this bright work space with the long bench table.

I'm dreaming of light summer layers and adventures in these Free People ankle boots, even though it's still 2 degrees out and snowy. Maybe especially because it's 2 degrees and snowy. Go away winter!

 Loving these hairstyles. My current cut is similar to the first one, but I have dreams of growing it out so I can dye the ends purple. Might take a few years.

Looking for more adventure and travel in my life.

 Today I thought I'd share some of my favorite things and what's been inspiring me lately. All pictures are from my pinterest account unless otherwise noted. I love looking at other people's living spaces. I have so many ideas for my future house! I love the dark wood paired with white walls in the first photo and all of the windows and textiles in the second. I would love nothing more than to have an entire wall of windows in my future home!!

 I think this berries and cream chocolate cake is in my future. Yum! I'd also really love to make homemade ginger ale! Whiskey gingers might be my new favorite beverage and I bet homemade ginger ale would knock it out of the park.

 Loving hats always and this one is especially cute with the bow! Can't go wrong with a pair of sparkly gold shoes :)

I've been feeling quite the desire to travel lately. I want to experience everything and see as much of the world as I can! I'm looking into getting my passport in the hopes that this will help push me into realizing my dreams.

I realize I haven't done a really solid post in a week or two, but I vow to make up for it! I have the next 5 days off so my plans include getting crafty on the blog and looking/applying for jobs. I hope you all had an awesome holiday season and are staying cozy!

Simple Saturday// Picture Wall

I've been so inspired by picture walls lately, I wanted to create my own. Plus, it finally gave me an excuse to print some pictures which I've been meaning to do for ages. There's no real way to enjoy all of my photos when they're just chilling in files on my computer so this was the perfect project to get some out in the open. I signed up for Snapfish and got my first 50 photos printed for free. I got a mix of my own photos and some inspiring images and quotes from Pinterest. The idea is to create a visually appealing and inspiring collage. Here are some picture walls that have me swooning.

I used mostly small photos and one print that I made on my computer. I ended up putting the collage on my door because as it turns out my walls are so covered in posters, artwork, and magazine clippings already that there really isn't any substantial amount of room for a new picture wall. When I eventually have my own home/apartment I'll probably expand on this idea, but this is what I came up with for my current living situation.

Please excuse the poor quality of the last photos. I used my phone and I guess I was a bit shaky, but you get the idea. Do you have a picture wall? I would love to see photos!
